Prior to 2000, BMW used to recommend frequent oil changes approximately every 6,000 miles, an Inspection-I Service every 30,000 miles and an Inspection-II Service every 60,000 miles. With the introduction of "Free Maintenance" on BMW's under full factory warranty came greater service intervals and terminology such as "lifetime" fluids. The fluid technology has advanced significantly over the years and today's synthetic oils are capable of providing superior protection and lubrication to handle these intervals. While these greater intervals may be acceptable for a new, low mileage vehicle, we at Foreign Motorcars believe that once your car is out of its factory warranty period these services need to be adjusted. We still recommend BMW's old service schedule with oil changes every 6 months or 6,000 miles with a 5w30 synthetic BMW approved oil, an Inpection-I Service every 30,000 miles and an Inspection-II Service every 60,000 miles. It works!
