FRONT END VIBRATION

Three words...   CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS

Control arm bushings are the most common source of front-end vibration, front-end handling issues, pre-mature tire wear and "clunk" noises. These bushings are an extremly important part of your BMW's front-end suspension and are what actually hold the tire and wheel in place to prevent it from moving back and forth within the wheel well while driving. Due to the intense force these bushing sustain, they usually wear out around 60,000-miles and need to be replaced. Other issues involving front-end vibration include faulty wheel balancing, loose ball-joints, worn tie-rod ends and sometimes even bad struts. The best way to tell if you need one of these items is to drive your car slowly back and forth over a good size bump while listening carefully for any unusual noises.
